Special EducationPsychologists

Ojai Unified School District employs school psychologists that serve as part of our staff at preschool, elementary, and secondary campuses. Ojai school psychologists work with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to identify and address learning, emotional, and behavior problems that interfere with school success.

Learning: Our school psychologists collaborate with families and staff to increase achievement by assessing barriers to learning by determining the best instructional strategies to improve learning. This may include evaluating eligibility for special education services within a multidisciplinary team.

Emotional and Behavior:  Additionally, our school psychologists strive to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral health often by providing counseling designed to strengthen communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self-regulation, self-determination, and optimism. School psychologists consult with teachers to design and implement academic and behavioral interventions and support individualized instruction. They collaborate with administrators to promote school policies and practices that ensure the safety of all students. This may include responding to crises by providing leadership, direct services, and coordination with needed community services.
