There is still space in Mira Monte child care over our Fall Break (Nov. 19, 20, 21)! Space is limited and going quickly! Paper work went home in Friday folders two weeks ago. If you are interested please see Esmeralda in the office and be prepared to pay upfront to secure your child's spot. You must sign up and pay in advance, so act quickly!
Our PTO is pumped-up and taking on the challenge of raising the $33,000 needed for this year’s budget. This week, many fundraising participation opportunities are being sent home.
One of the two big fundraisers is our annual Direct Appeal. This fundraiser is usually run through the Ojai Education Foundation. This year, Mira Monte PTO is exclusively involved. Our direct appeal generated $6 - $7,000 dollars the last couple years. Our goal is at least $6,000 this year. If you have friends or family interested in really inexpensive advertising, please share the information. 100% of your tax deductible donation will benefit the students attending Mira Monte School.
Need pies for the holidays? High-end restaurant quality pies are being sold by our PTO. Look for order forms being sent home this week. Orders are due by Nov. 13th.
See’s holiday candy orders are also being sent home this week. If you normally purchase a little (or a lot) of chocolate for the holidays, please consider ordering candy through our PTO. Orders are du no later than Nov. 26th.
Our 6th grade leadership students will be collecting donations next week for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. All donations will be delivered to the Red Cross. Watch for the kids in the pick-up area before and after school. A collection jug will also be in front of the office before school.
Did you enjoy the Fall Festival? Do you have feedback for the PTO? A survey is being sent home this week. Our PTO appreciates the feedback while it is all still fresh in your mind. It will help with next year’s planning.
On Friday, Nov. 16th, students in 4th – 6th grades will be encouraged to participate in a 6th grade sponsored school spirit day. The theme for the day will be Look-a-Like. 2 friends, 3 friends, or as many friends as possible are encouraged to participate together.
Needs:
We have a few picnic tables in need of replacement benches. We need 3 pieces of 6 foot 10” x 6” to replace the boards.
We have a number of little repairs we could use help with around school. As you are likely aware, our district maintenance department is extremely thin (2 men for the entire district!). Please see Mrs. White if you are interested.
Coming soon…..Mira Monte Food Drive………This year we will have a food collection competition. The campaign will run between Thanksgiving and Winter break.
