Eagles' Wrestlers go UNDEFEATED!

The Matilija Junior High School wrestling team finished up another exciting year of wrestling in the Ventura County Middle School Wrestling league under the direction of coach Robert Hastie and coach Paul Clementi. This year's squad was made up of a majority of first year wrestlers with only one returning wrestler from last years squad,  8th grader Firmo Esperanza. 

All of our wrestlers have been showing improvement.  This year's squad is being led by 7th grade heavyweight Kaleb Scaminach who is undefeated with no match going longer than the first period. Kaleb is very aggressive and athletic.  First year wrestler Jacob McDonald wrestling at 128lbs. is pinning opponents left and right with his half nelson, and 7th grader Christian Del Monzano as the only girl on the team is continuing to show improvement with every match. Steven Davis at 107 lbs. is one of the most explosive wrestlers on the team and always exciting to watch win lose or draw. Kaelan Wynn and Hunter Bauer, both 7th graders have as much potential as anyone on the team.  The entire squad has been working hard at practice and has been working hard to develop a true team spirit and respect for every member on the team, as we end each practice with our familiar chant "Eagles on three 1-2-3 Eagles" We are the Matilija Eagles and everyone was a contributor on this year's squad.
