Matilija Junior High School is a California Distinguished School nestled in the arbolada of the community of Ojai, California. The Ojai Valley is a picturesque and beautiful rural locale situated at the foot of the Los Padres National Forest. The Matilija campus with its traditional Spanish architecture, was built in the late 1920's. The exceptional architecture combined with the majestic oaks which frame the arbolada, give the campus a unique and serene learning atmosphere. While students, staff and parents cherish the geographical and historical significance of Matilija, we are moving into the twenty-first century with an increased academic standard of excellence through study and mastery of the California Content Standards, a positive and nurturing school environment, a commitment to student enrichment through daily activities, a strong student leadership program, extensive exploratory classes and an exemplary performing arts program.
