    What we offer

San Antonio School is a California Distinguished School, nestled in the east end of rural Ojai Valley at the foot of Ojai's Topa Topa Mountains.  The surrounding orange groves and majestic oaks make the San Antonio campus a unique public school setting.  San Antonio Elementary has been in existence for over 100 years.  While students, staff, and local Ojai residents cherish its historical significance, the school is moving into the future with an academic standard of excellence through study and mastery of the California Content Standards.  This rigorous course of study provides many challenges and opportunities for individual growth, and teachers provide instruction to accommodate the different learning styles and skill levels of students in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Technology, and the Performing Arts.

The staff is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for the K-6 student population of about 155.  This staff includes our principal,  six classroom
teachers, a librarian and lab technician, resource and speech specialists, a bi-lingual aide, instructional assistants,  office manager, and custodial/facilities/ground personnel who take care of our beautiful campus.

Message from the Principal...
2012-2013

I am so happy to be a part of San Antonio School. I join a wonderful staff of teachers and support personnel who are dedicated to serving the needs of our students. The strong rapport among teachers, students and staff is evident throughout the campus and makes for a rich learning environment.

Parents, please check our school schedule.  Just click on "Daily Schedule/Transportation" at left to find a detailed bell schedule.  In a nutshell, grades 1-6 will be dismissed at 2:10 p.m. each week day except for Wednesday.  On Wednesday all students will be dismissed at 12:05 p.m.  The school lunch program will continue to be available every day of the week.

Our weekly assembly, one of San Antonio's special traditions, will again be held on Fridays in our lovely amphitheater.  We feel it is important to share the flag salute, a patriotic song, and updates on events and PTO activities with all students.  We also utilize this time to recognize a student from each classroom for their achievements, exemplary behavior or special talents.  In addition, our Chair of Distinction is reserved for student whose outstanding behavior exemplifies the characteristics we promote, especially kindness and friendship.  The view from the amphitheater is especially beautiful, encompassing the surrounding orange groves and the local Topa Topa mountains - parents, we hope you can join us for this weekly event!

We are very proud of our library/lab facility, which has 32 computer stations, over 5000 books for our K-6 students to choose from, and functions as an important resource center for research projects.

We are pleased with the results of standardized testing at our site. Results for our school (and others in the state) can be found on the California Department of Education website:
www.cde.ca.gov/. Our current API score, based on Spring 2011 testing, is 845.   Individual scores for student achievement based on Spring 2011 have already been mailed to parents.

I invite you to visit our campus by making an appointment through our office at (805) 640-4373. We would love to take your on a tour of the school and answer any questions you may have on enrollment, curriculum or programs.
Sincerely,

Theresa A. Dutter
