Welcome to Matilija Junior High School!

We want to welcome you to our fabulous school.  At Matilija you and your children will find a safe school culture with an exceptional academic program.  Our Matilija staff is an outstanding group of highly qualified professionals.

Junior high presents an adjustment for students and parents.  It represents the transition from elementary to secondary education.  This is the first time the entire community of Ojai comes together in one school.  Adolescence may also trigger a slightly different relationship between you and your child.  But fear not, it is a natural and exciting time for both you and your student.  Remember, we are always ready to listen, so don't hesitate to call.

Remain active in your child's school.  One way to stay connected to school is through email and Parent Connect – please send in your email address on the forms provided.  This is not the time in a student's life for parents to be letting go.  We hope each of you will join the Matilija PTA and discover how to become our partner while your child attends here.  We need your support and involvement.  Your interest and your support help make Matilija an excellent place for student learning.

School is a place of "common ground."  That means respect for diversity, including race, ethnic origin, religious beliefs and gender are paramount.  School policies about behavior, dress and attitude all reflect our belief in respect for all.  These policies also reflect our belief that students are here to learn and teachers are here to teach.  Disruptions to the learning environment and safe school culture and are not tolerated, and we review school policies and expectations with the students regularly.
