Thank you for visiting our website.
We want to welcome you to our wonderful school. At Matilija, you and your child will find a safe and positive school culture with an exceptional academic program. The Matilija staff is an outstanding group of highly qualified professionals.
Junior High presents an adjustment for students and parents. It represents the transition from elementary to secondary education. This is the first time the entire community of Ojai comes together in one school. Adolescence may also lead to a slightly different relationship between you and your child. But fear not, it is a natural and exciting time for both of you. Please remember, we are always ready to listen, so don't hesitate to call.
We encourage you to remain active in your child's school. This is not the time in a student's life for parents to be letting go. We hope each of you will join the Matilija PTA and discover how to become our partner while your child attends here. We need your support and involvement. Your interest and your ideas contribute to Matilija’s engaging learning environment.
School is a place of "common ground." Respect for diversity, including race, ethnic origin, religious beliefs and gender are paramount. School policies regarding behavior, dress and attitude all reflect our belief in respect for all. These policies also represent our belief that students are here to learn and teachers are here to teach. Disruptions to the learning environment and safe school culture are not tolerated. Please review these policies in the student handbook with your child.
Students will receive a copy of the student handbook on the first day of school.
We thank you for entrusting us with the education of your child. Again, we invite you to be our involved partner in this learning process known as middle school. We look forward to meeting you and working with you throughout the year. Your input and participation is vital to our entire staff and to both of us.
We appreciate your interest in Matilija and look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with you in motivating the personal, social and academic growth for your child during their time on campus.
Warmly,
Emily Mostovoy John Schweller Principal Assistant Principal |
